Zombie Horror: The Deadwood Trilogy

The Deadwood series is Sandbox VR’s original zombie horror line, and it’s grown into three exciting adventures. If you’re new to horror virtual reality, we recommend starting with Mansion. If you want to experience something scarier, book PHOBIA.

Deadwood Mansion

It all began in 2017 with the first hyperreality escape experience ever created: Deadwood Mansion, which is still our most popular experience and, for a lot of first-timers, the best game at Sandbox VR to start with. Your group picks a weapon, gets grabbed by an enemy called Smoker whose tongue can disable your gun mid-fight, and shoots its way out of a house full of the undead. Rats scurry across your feet as you move through the old mansion, and that's just the beginning of what will make you scream.

With our haptic technology, you’ll actually feel the fear as the undead zombies reach out and touch you. But don’t worry, you’ll have an arsenal of guns to choose from, including a dual pistol, a machine gun, a combat rifle, or an upgrade to a Gatling gun.

Deadwood Mansion

Deadwood Valley

Deadwood Valley is the sequel with a bigger map, a story that shifts based on your choices, and a weak-point system that punishes players who spray bullets instead of aiming. It's also the first Deadwood experience to move across multiple locations instead of staying in one house: you'll fight through the street, inside a moving vehicle, and out on a farm, all in the same session. 

In this experience, you’ll be in a town that’s been overrun by zombies, trying to survive isolated country roads in the middle of the valley. You have the power to decide how the story ends – will you stop the zombies forever or die trying? There are different add-ons, including a Nightmare Update with a new weapon, enemy, and difficulty mode.

Deadwood PHOBIA

Our newest zombie release, Deadwood PHOBIA, is for groups who are looking for something even scarier. Set in an abandoned medical facility, it’s Sandbox VR’s first psychological horror experience that really blends the line between virtual reality and reality, asking you to face your fears and common phobias. 

You’ll be surrounded by 360-degree horror, with some players in the room seeing things that others don’t, so you can’t fully trust what’s in front of you. Instead of a Gatling Gun, PHOBIA has its own Arc Blaster that chains electricity between multiple zombies at once. 

Licensed Netflix Worlds: Squid Game, Rebel Moon, and Stranger Things

Sandbox VR has partnered with Netflix to bring to life three of their popular titles: Squid Game Virtuals, Rebel Moon: The Descent, and Stranger Things: Catalyst. These three games are fun for die-hard fans, casual enjoyers, and people who have never even seen these titles. 

Squid Game Virtuals

Squid Game Virtuals turns your group into contestants playing mini-games from the popular Netflix series, including ‘Red Light, Green Light' and several others, with a running score that decides who actually earns bragging rights. 

You can put on your tracksuit and race against the clock to get the highest score and become the lone survivor. This is an experience you can play again and again to enjoy all the different games and challenges created in partnership with Netflix. 

Rebel Moon: The Descent

Rebel Moon: The Descent, made with Netflix and director Zack Snyder, sends your team through the mining world of Daggus to destroy a cobalt refinery fueling the Motherworld’s war machine. 

It splits players into character types too: Soldiers who fight at range or up close, Heavies who tank damage behind a shield, and Gunslingers who move fast and hit hard if you don’t take them out first. 

Stranger Things: Catalyst 

The newest of the three, this Stranger Things: Catalyst adventure casts your group as test subjects inside Hawkins National Laboratory with telekinetic powers, throwing objects and taking down Demogorgons the way Eleven does on the show. 

You’ll even get to see Matthew Modine as Dr. ‘Papa’ Brenner as you try to escape the lab and rescue survivors. As you play, you’ll uncover the secrets of the laboratory and learn the limits of your power, racing against the open gate to the Upside Down. 

Sci-Fi Invasion: Amber Sky 2088

Amber Sky 2088 sends your group up a space elevator from a future Hong Kong, out past the clouds, and into a fight against an alien invasion trying to take Earth. 

You’ll see the new Hong Kong skyline shrink beneath you and the curve of the planet come into view before the fighting even starts. You’re playing as androids, choosing between a shield-and-handcannon combo or a stronger phase rifle, so someone in the group needs to volunteer to protect everyone else from long-range fire. 

A premium weapon upgrade is available if your group wants extra firepower. Two different endings depend on how much of the captain’s ship survives the mission, so a fun run and a clean run don’t play out the same way. 

As Sandbox VR's third and most ambitious experience, it's often mentioned alongside the best VR Sandbox games for groups who want scale over scares, and it's one you definitely don't want to skip.

Fantasy Combat: Seekers of the Shard: Dragonfire

In this experience, your mission is to find a mysterious shard and save the Realm before it's too late, and yes, that includes a battle against an actual dragon. As our first experience with multiple storylines, Seekers of the Shard: Dragonfire hands each player a class: Hunter with a crossbow, Knight throwing ice axes, or Fury throwing fireballs. 

The story branches based on a vote your group makes partway through, so two visits with the same friend can lead to two different paths and different enemies. Beat the first scene, and you’ll unlock a random Legendary Weapon tied to your class.

If you collect enough of them, you can start earning Magical Orbs that boost your damage further, tracked through the email you use at check-in. It’s also the only experience with a Family Friendly Mode, which strips out blood, gore, and dismemberment without touching the gameplay, so it works even if your group spans generations. 

This is an experience worth playing again, as each gameplay is different. 

One-on-One Combat UFL: Unbound Fighting League

Step into the arena as a futuristic gladiator, where the only limit is how hard you're willing to fight. UFL: Unbound Fighting League skips the co-op format entirely. It’s a straight player-versus-player (PVP) fight, with full-body motion capture standing in for your actual body, and your choice of sword, trident, or caltrops before each round. You can split into teams and battle your friends, really putting your skills to the test. 

It’s a legitimate workout, since you’re the one throwing punches and dodging the hits, not a controller. It currently runs at select locations only, so it’s worth checking if your local Sandbox VR has it before you go.

Pirates and Treasure: Curse of Davy Jones

Curse of Davy Jones is a treasure hunt against supernatural sea creatures, including the Tarman, a slow enemy that’s nearly bulletproof unless someone in your group is holding the torch instead of a blade. 

That torch isn’t just for the Tarman, either: you’ll need it to solve puzzles along the way, which makes whoever’s holding it the de facto team lead, whether they want the job or not. It’s built to work for kids and adults in the same session, making it one of the easier picks for a mixed-age group that still wants a bit of a scare. 

No, Combat, All Wonder: Age of Dinosaurs

Age of Dinosaurs is Sandbox VR’s first experience with zero combat and zero player damage. Your group travels 150 million years back, feeds a Stegosaurus, feels a Brachiosaurus’s footsteps shake the ground, and helps rescue Tyrannosaur hatchlings, all built with London’s Natural History Museum for scientific accuracy. 

You’ll carry a multi-tool that shifts function depending on what you’re doing next, snapping photos of an Alamosaurus one minute and helping wrangle a hatchling the next, all while a Triceratops and a Tyrannosaurus Rex face off nearby. Everyone leaves with a personalized 3D avatar made from their own photo and a photobook of the trip.
