• A birthday party at Sandbox VR starts about 10 to 15 minutes before your booking time. We recommend that you arrive early to make sure you have time to gear up for your VR experience.

• Once you’re all checked in, it takes about 10 minutes to get geared up and complete one of our beginner-friendly tutorials. The tutorial will include everything you need to know about how to get around inside the virtual world you’ve selected, whether that’s a zombie survival challenge, a kid-friendly pirate romp on the high seas, or one of our experiences co-created with Netflix, such as Stranger Things Catalyst or the Squid Game Virtuals.

• Each adventure takes approximately 30 minutes, and then you’ll want around 10 minutes to take off your gear and review the social-media-friendly video highlights of your group’s VR journey. After that, if you’ve made arrangements with our staff beforehand, you can head to one of our private event spaces for cake, snacks, and a chance to relive your VR adventure.

Each of our VR gameplay experiences is built for two to six players per session, but we can accommodate larger groups. We recommend calling ahead to discuss group size with our staff at your preferred location.

We don’t have a strict age limit; however, Sandbox VR requires a parent or guardian to be present to sign a waiver form for guests under 18 years old. Guests need to be at least 1.2 meters (48” or 4 feet) tall and capable of carrying up to 20 pounds of gear for about an hour to participate safely in our experiences. In practice, this means we suggest guests be at least six years old.

Sandbox VR offers safe and social experiences. Our tutorials give clear boundaries to help you avoid colliding with any walls or obstacles. And in-game, you can see yourself and your fellow players so that you won’t knock each other over. All equipment is cleaned and disinfected after use.

Our gear is a little more than a VR headset. To get Sandbox VR’s high-quality visuals and fully immersive experiences, you’ll wear wrist and ankle sensors, as well as one of our haptic vests. “Haptic” means “relating to the sense of touch.” With these vests, you’ll feel the shudder and recoil of your shotgun or the thump of a zombie’s punch.
